The Atmosphere of Thought

Welcome to this, the first posting, with the intention of initiating a wide-ranging discussion on how the way we think, and what we think, influences our life-experience.

Most of us experience the typical ups-and-downs that we accept as part of the human condition – “That’s life and there’s nothing I can do about it”.  But, what if we could?  As a teaser, let me ask this question: what do you think would be the effect on you if you had no idea what your age was?  Would that be a positive thing?  Aside from missing out on birthday cake, I think so, given that we are inundated, via the media and our daily human contact, with pointers to age-milestones and their, supposed, almost always, negative effect on our health and well-being.  If we declined to absorb any of this negative information, would that change our experience?  Undoubtedly!

This suggests that our knowledge and the way in which we think has a direct effect and influence on our lives.  How we think determines our life-experience.  To quote William Shakespeare: “There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so”.  (From Hamlet)

The purpose of this blog site is to talk about the concept of thinking our way to health, peace and happiness.  Selfishness is the scourge of mankind.  Meaningful, beneficial, selfless change has to take place in our own thinking and, if it does, BINGO!  The concept is truly simple.  It’s we, ourselves, who make it difficult.  I wonder why?
